The purpose of a Packaging Technician at AeroFarms is to manage the packaging process of leafy greens in accordance with specified quality standards. The role involves various tasks aimed at ensuring the efficient and effective packaging of products while maintaining high-quality standards and operational efficiency.
The Packaging Technician will be responsible for:
Packing and Sorting:
- Pack leafy greens into appropriate containers according to quality specifications.
- Sort through products to ensure the best quality, and refer any substandard quality to the Quality Team for review.
Operation of Equipment:
- Operate scales and metal detectors to ensure proper product weights.
- Distinguish between different types of packaging and leafy greens.
- Operate automatic packaging lines efficiently.
Quality Control and Reporting:
- Track and record quality losses and input data into the computer at the end of the day.
Miscellaneous Tasks:
- Perform any additional tasks assigned by the supervisor.
You have:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent.
- Experience in food production helpful.
- Must have a technical background.
- Must be able to communicate effectively.
- Must be able to read, write, understand, and speak basic English (required).
- Must be able to work in a cold environment (<40F) for long periods of time.
- Availability to work weekends is a must.
- Ability to respect and maintain confidential information.
- Ability to work within a team environment.
- Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to drive electric forklift/pallet jack after training.
- Must be able to work independently and within a team.
- Must have time management skills to meet certain deadlines for shipping.
- Must be detailed oriented and organized.
- Must have good communication skills.
- Must have good basic math skills.
- Ability to use scales and computer.
More Information on our Packaging Technician Opening:
Pay Rate: $18.00 (Days) and $19.00 (Nights)
Shifts: 12-hour rotating Schedule. Which follows the 2-2-3 pattern with alternating weekends.
Working Conditions: The AeroFarms facility has two areas: one is warm and humid: 80 degrees, the other is cold at 35 degrees. You are required to wear PPE provided by AeroFarms, including a facemask in the GMP/food production areas.
In accordance with organizational protocol, employees will at times be required to fill absences in the operation process that are equal to or lower than their positional hierarchy. Additionally, if an employee is absent, the role of the absent employee is to be completed by their immediate superior.
